Happy New Year Everyone! I can’t quite believe that it is 2022 already, thanks to lockdown, the past couple of years have flown by. However, it is a new year which means a new start, and most excitingly, it means it is finally time to show you all what I have been working on over the past few months!
Our New Studio
Yep, you read that correctly, and if you have been following us on social media you’ll have already seen the process on our stories! Emily Smith Designs is migrating out of our home dining room and into our very own studio, we haven’t moved in just yet but it won’t be long once our renovations are in place. I, of course, love everything interiors and décor, so getting to have full creative freedom over the new studio is literally a dream come true. For those who are curious, we are doing up a barn on our farm to make room for all things Emily Smith. The new HQ should be up, running and ready for action in the next couple of weeks, so aside from sourcing light fittings and preparing desk spaces we are continuing as normal from home sweet home.
New Design Alert
Say hello to Zara the Zebra! One of my favourite parts of running Emily Smith Designs is coming up with new characterful friends to share with you all. I’m sure at this it’s no secret that we just love safari wildlife, and they are some of our best sellers, so I couldn’t help but add to the herd. Joining Reuben the Rhino and Luanna the Leopard, Zara Zebra is available now on all your favourite products including: notebook and pen set, coasters, compact mirror, cosmetics bags, tea towels, and mini chopping boards! You can check out Zara and her other pals here. She’ll also be making future appearances on other products to be confirmed soon – so keep an eye on our social media.
New Products on the Horizon
Not only do we have our fantastic new Zebra design, we are also treating you to an all new product. With sustainability and practicality in mind we are creating Recycled Glass Platters that will feature four of our most popular wildlife friends: Jemima Jellyfish, Camilla Ostrich, Flossy & Amber Flamingos, and of course our zazzy Zara Zebra! These are, of course, all made in the UK – a central component to all our products where possible – and will make a stylish addition to your home décor. Plus, they are dishwasher safe, an absolute must! Keep an eye on our social media so you can be the first ones to know when these exciting new pieces will be available.
We have also just released our mini chopping board collection out into the world! These wonderful little kitchen essentials are available now and are one of our favourite things on the shop at the moment! Whether just for decoration, or for practical handy chopping, these are so much fun. They are, of course, made in Britain, heat resistant up to 145 degrees Celsius, and feature a sustainably sources Eucalyptus base, so you know you are buying quality! There will be nine of our characterful animal pals available on these, so you’ll be able get your favourites and add them to your collection.
Also, if you haven’t seen them already, we have sneakily added Jemima Jellyfish and Rueben Rhino to the tea towels collection as well during our John Lewis pop up shop – here’s a link to these.
Something to Shout About
Finally, we have one more product to rave on about this Feb, and that’s our bestselling Camilla umbrella! She has been shortlisted for fashion accessory of the year by Gift of the Year Awards. Plus, for the first time ever, the gift associations are hosting their judging day live at the Spring Fair in Birmingham on the 9th of February. We are so looking forward to this and will be keeping everyone updated via instagram stories, so make sure you follow us here.
